Paula Luna Paoletti Deputy General Counsel & Senior Associate Vice President

Paula Paoletti manages and oversees litigation for the University in a variety of forums including state and federal courts. In this role, she works closely with outside counsel and The Office of the Attorney General on a wide variety of litigation matters including professional liability claims, personal injury claims, premises liability claims, employment/faculty claims, contract disputes and class actions. Paula also manages and oversees litigation relating to the Wexner Medical Center, advising the Risk Management Committee and Self-Insurance Board, and providing counsel on risk management. She also serves as a legal advisor and consultant regarding regulations, medical staff compliance, business litigation and administrative issues in coordination with other legal counsel within the Office of Legal Affairs.

 

Prior to Paula’s appointment with the University in 2012, she served 17 years with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, with her last eight years as Section Chief in the Court of Claims Defense Section. In that position, Paula managed a civil defense litigation group that represented state entities in lawsuits seeking money damages against the state involving a variety of claims including personal injury, breach of contract, medical malpractice, employment issues, wrongful death and wrongful imprisonment. During her time with the Attorney General’s Office, Paula also served as the Assistant Chief of the Executive Agencies Section, Associate Attorney General in the Health and Human Services Section and Assistant Attorney General in the Corrections Litigation Section.
