If your University unit desires to lease space in non-campus owned buildings and/or off-campus grounds, your unit will need to obtain the requisite approvals prescribed by and comply with the policies of the University's Facilities Operation and Development ("FOD") office. To commence the process required to lease space as described above, your unit should contact FOD's Division of Planning and Real Estate. To access the web site for the Division of Planning and Real Estate, or to obtain contact information, please go to http://fod.osu.edu/ and click on "Planning and Real Estate".
FAQ's
Q. If my department wishes to occupy space in campus owned buildings, or desires to expand existing space or be reassigned space in campus owned buildings, who should we contact?
A. Facilities Operation and Development Office's Division of Planning and Real Estate will assist you in obtaining a space agreement, or modification of an existing space agreement or reassignment. The Division of Planning and Real Estate may be contacted by going to http://fod.osu.edu/ and clicking on "Planning and Real Estate".
Q. Can the Office of Legal Affairs tell me what types of insurance coverages the University has and how much my department may be responsible for in the event of a claim?
A. Risk management is handled by the University Treasurer's office, not the Office of Legal Affairs. To obtain information about University insurance and University policies regarding insurance please go to the Treasurer's web site at http://www.treasurer.ohio-state.edu/staff/risk_mgt/index.html .
Q. If I'm an enrolled student at the University having a problem with my landlord, can the Office of Legal Affairs help me?
A. The Office of Legal Affairs represents students only in certain instances. The Office of Legal Affairs provides legal advice and representation to The Ohio State University, to its constituent units and affiliated entities, and to its trustees, officers, employees and student leaders while acting on the University's behalf. The Moritz College of Law's Student Housing Legal Clinic may be able to assist you or you may have to obtain private legal counsel.
