Request for Legal Counsel
When legal assistance is needed by a university unit, the unit should contact the Office of Legal Affairs at 292-0582. (Do not contact a law firm directly). The General Counsel will determine if the matter can be handled in-house or if special counsel will be needed. If special counsel is needed, the General Counsel will determine which law firm is to be used. The university unit will be required to provide a "Request for Legal Counsel" form (link below) which includes the chartfield to use for the special counsel invoices. Invoices will be processed by the Office of Legal Affairs and the unit will receive appropriate backup documentation.
