Brittany Cvetanovich Senior Associate General Counsel

Brittany Cvetanovich joined the Office of Legal Affairs in August 2022 as Senior Associate General Counsel.  Her primary areas of responsibility are supporting Advancement and advising on tax matters.  Brittany provides counsel on tax, charitable giving, trusts, probate, and gift Initiatives, including advising on gift agreements, grant agreements, charitable solicitations, gift processing, donor restrictions, endowment modifications, non-cash gifts, donor advised funds, unrelated business taxable income (UBTI), qualified sponsorships, property tax, private fund investments and other alternative investment structures, joint ventures and collaborations, and research enterprise-related tax considerations.

 

Prior to joining the Office of Legal Affairs, Brittany was counsel at Ropes & Gray, where she focused her practice on matters for tax-exempt organizations and partnership tax issues. During her eleven years at Ropes & Gray, Brittany regularly advised tax-exempt organizations on formation, reorganization, joint ventures with for-profit entities, investment activities and partnership tax matters. Brittany also advised a wide range of private investment fund managers and investors, including universities and foundations, on tax issues relating to the formation and operation of private equity and hedge funds. She also maintained an active pro bono practice that included the successful representation of innovative community organizations and impact investment organizations seeking tax-exempt status, as well as advising human trafficking survivors on tax considerations relevant to civil settlements obtained against their traffickers. Previously, Brittany clerked for Judge Sandra L. Lynch of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
