Daniel A. Malkoff Assistant Vice President & Senior Associate General Counsel
Dan is responsible for oversight and management of litigation filed in a variety of forums including state and federal courts. In this role, he works closely with outside counsel and The Office of the Attorney General on a wide variety of litigation matters including professional liability claims, personal injury claims, premises liability claims, employment/faculty claims, contract disputes and class actions. Dan has presented on a variety of topics including the litigation process, professional liability claims, depositions, immunity, patient consent, disclosure of adverse medical outcomes, public records and email communications.
Prior to joining the Office of Legal Affairs Dan was employed by the Office of the Ohio Attorney General where he represented clients in state courts, including the Ohio Supreme Court, and federal courts, including the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. Immediately prior to joining The Ohio State University legal staff, Dan held the title of Senior Deputy Attorney General of the Court of Claims Defense Section. In that role he was responsible for managing a large group of attorneys who represented state agencies, state colleges and universities, and state boards and commissions in cases filed in the Ohio Court of Claims. Dan is admitted to the Ohio Bar, United States District Court, Southern District, and United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and D.C. Circuit.
