Lauri Andrews Director of Insurance
Ms. Andrews directs and manages the operations of the University Self Insurance Program (USIP) which provides professional liability coverage to the hospitals as well as physicians and clinical staff employed by the Wexner Medical Center. She also provides oversight of the off-shore captive insurance company. In addition to consulting with various departments at the Medical Center, she works closely with program actuaries, insurance brokers, and reinsurance markets. She oversees the underwriting of physicians and other clinical providers that are covered by USIP and advises the Self Insurance Board and Risk Management Committee. Ms. Andrews also handles other insurance matters for the Medical Center as needs arise.
Ms. Andrews is an insurance professional with more than 30 years of experience working in various capacities including underwriting, sales, service and account management. Ms. Andrews began her insurance career at Nationwide Insurance where she gained experience through rating and underwriting various types of property and casualty insurance programs. She was an Underwriting Specialist in their National Accounts division when she re-directed her career to brokerage services. She spent the next 20 years at international insurance brokerage firms with a focus on medical malpractice solutions. Her most recent position prior to joining OSU was Senior Vice President and Account Executive at Aon Risk Solutions with a concentration on health care organizations and providers.
Ms. Andrews is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter as conferred by the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters in 1995.
