Matthew Albers, JD, became deputy general counsel and senior associate vice president for the Office of Legal Affairs in 2021. He serves as key legal counsel for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the academic health enterprise, and is a key member of the senior leadership teams for the Office of Legal Affairs and the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
 
As deputy counsel and senior associate vice president, Matthew provides enterprise-wide legal guidance on issues related to the academic health enterprise, including business ventures, health care services, scientific research and discovery as well as medical education. He is responsible for leading all health care transactions, mergers, acquisitions, innovative deal structures and general business knowledge.

Prior to joining OSU, Matthew was a partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in its Cleveland office, leading mergers and acquisitions for the firm’s health care group. Prior to that, he served as in-house counsel for University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland and began his career in the white collar criminal defense practice of Altheimer & Gray in Chicago.
