Steven J. Theohares, MSN, RN

Steven joined the Office of Legal Affairs in September 2018.  In his role as senior clinical risk manager, he provides and performs risk management responsibilities to >1,000 inpatient and outpatient locations and sites. Steven's responsibilities include performing comprehensive surveillance of patient safety events in order to identify and respond to clinical safety events. Additionally, he conducts event investigations and reports investigative findings to Medical Center leadership with direct participation in the delivery of root cause analysis processes. Steven collaborates directly with organizational Quality & Patient Safety agencies to develop improvement paradigms and enhance investigational approaches. He also conducts interface with Medical Center Litigation and Insurance Programs to assure optimal organizational posturing in response to projected and actual claim submission. 

Steven has over 35 years of Nursing experience with a primary focus on Emergency Nursing, Quality & Patient Safety, and Risk Management. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force at the rank of Colonel with extensive experience in Flight Nursing, global medical and aeromedical operations, and deployment medicine.
